        Is my passport valid enough?

Theoretically, even when valid, some countries require a few more months of validity to enter or even obtain a visa. Therefore, if your passport is coming to an end and you are going to travel, keep an eye on it and find out what the minimum validity period is in each country.       Here are some information very relevant:

U.S
The standard law in the USA is that tourists must have a passport valid for at least six months beyond the period of stay in the country. However, Brazil is an exception and is among the countries that do not have this obligation. For this reason, Brazilians are free to enter the North American country as long as their passport is valid for the entire duration of their stay.

Canada
In the case of Canada, the situation is similar. If you already have a visa, it is enough that the passport is valid for the total time of the trip within the country. However, it is recommended to have at least an extra month to avoid problems.

Europe
The good news for anyone wanting to travel to Europe is that most countries on the continent follow the same rule. In this case, we are talking about members of the Schengen Agreement. This is an open border policy treaty between participants, but it also refers to foreigners. It requires foreign travelers to have a passport valid for three months beyond the date of departure from the region. All European Union countries (such as France, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc.) and three outside countries (Switzerland, Norway and Iceland) are included in the agreement.

United Kingdom and Ireland
The United Kingdom is one of the few exceptions to the agreement. Many may attribute this to the fact of the country's recent exit from the European Union, but, in reality, the British already had their own rules for the entry and exit of foreigners. In the case of tourists, the law says that only a valid passport is required during the entire trip, without the need for additional time. But be careful: Ireland is not part of the United Kingdom and it takes six months between travel and expiration.

Australia and New Zealand
Australia is not only further away from us but also requires a longer valid passport. You must have six months left before the document expires to enter the country. So, if you intend to take a trip there or passing through there, pay attention to this aspect. New Zealand, on the other hand, only requires three months more validity after the trip ends.

Japan
Like Australia and Ireland, Japan is another country that requires a passport to be valid for at least six months after leaving the country. This is even necessary when seeking to issue a visa, so be careful.
